This glassware originates from an artisan-owned cooperative located in the small rural village of Cantel, Guatemala. With a vision to create meaningful jobs in a small town in 1976, this artisan collective has grown into an environment supporting approximately 35 artisan men and their families, who are from the same municipality and village. The co-op was started by around 15 people who had worked together as employees but wanted the opportunity to start a creative business and support their small community with jobs that offer fair wages, health insurance, and education and training opportunities. The group is dedicated to providing sustainable income opportunities for artisans in vulnerable communities and a safe work environment.

This glassware set, consisting of a carafe and a glass, is skillfully crafted in the community of Cántel, Guatemala, using a time tested hand-blowing technique with recycled glass. Expert artisans gather recycled glass materials from local businesses. The artisans fire the piece under a modified blow torch and place it in a large brick oven. They form and mold the desired piece, such as a pitcher or drinking glass, using the designated color. Throughout the process, artisans use basic tools by hand, without production machinery, such as tweezers, scissors, and a tube to blow the glass. Depending on the design, they may use aluminum molds to form a precise shape. Describing the craft, they commented "We've always had the attitude that we can learn something from every experience, no matter how difficult. Our work focuses on inspiration and creativity."
